Women defenders at risk
These cases, which span the globe, illuminate the range of threats to WHRDs today. From local, grassroots activism to prominent, national leadership - the work that a WHRD may undertake can have many different shapes and sizes. Due to the dynamic nature of human rights defence work, the risks associated are just as varied and intersecting. In the report, the Special Rapporteur has drawn attention to several ongoing cases of particular concern, as well as recent instances of violence and repression against women.
