Sustainable funding is extremely important for grassroots, feminist organisations – yet WHRDs are often underfunded, particularly those working on politically sensitive topics. Stable and accessible funding must be made available to defenders and organisations to advance the women within the human rights movement globally. Without adequate access to funds, the voices of the most marginalised women will continue to be silenced within the human rights movement. There are currently some outstanding organisations working with women-led groups to further their participation and build capacities.
